The Field Research and Ethics in Difficult Settings website is a resource for academics and practitioners to exchange ideas and experiences about field research and ethics in highly politicized, authoritarian and other challenging fieldwork settings—from the design stage through to writing up and publication. Contributions from diverse methodological and theoretical backgrounds are welcome. Our network is committed to the following:
- Facilitating interdisciplinary exchange among scholars, students and practitioners through our Scholars Database and Interactive Field Methods Forum.
- Publishing high-quality working papers on practical challenges in field research methods and ethics.
- Fostering networks of scholars, students and practitioners conducting field research in conflict, post-conflict, authoritarian, and other methodologically or ethically-challenging field environments, including contexts of systemic or symbolic violence.
