Working Papers provide practical information and advice for graduate students, scholars, and practitioners who are about to embark upon fieldwork in conflict and post-conflict environments, as well as highly politicized, authoritarian and other difficult fieldwork settings.
We invite both short- and long-form working paper submissions from scholars and practitioners who can speak to a range of ethical and methodological challenges of working in difficult settings. Short papers are between 3-5,000 words, including citations and references while long-form papers can be as long as 10,000 words. The long-form format is intended for authors seeking to get their ideas out with a view to later publishing the paper as a peer-reviewed article or chapter. Shorter papers also offer an opportunity for authors to share their ideas, or to put forth practice notes on how they addressed a particular ethical or methodological challenge. Please consult the submission guidelines here.
